Cougars Added Varsity Team

The Chatham Kent Cougars Football Club HAS ADDED A Varsity Spring/Summer Travel Football League. The Chatham-Kent Cougars currently run the Minor Fall Football, Cheerleading, Flag Football, indoor no equipment football clinics, outdoor full equipment clinics, PeeWee Spring/Summer Football, and Junior Varsity Spring/Summer Football.
The Varsity Division consists of Players in Grade 11, 12. (age ranged 17,18, and 19).
Cougars Football Club President, Selwyn Jordan explains " This was just the next progression, with the number of Junior Varsity Players now graduating, we have a real interest in the older division". He Added "The Sarnia Lions and Essex Ravens have been running Varsity teams. Because there were no Varsity options in this area, Chatham-Kent players had to travel 3-4 times a week to Sarnia or Essex to play Varsity football. But recently Sarnia has decided to take a leave of absence from Varsity, so this is an opening for us to keep Wallaceburg, Chatham, Blenheim, players to play for our new Chatham-Kent Varsity team."
The Cougars Travel Football teams just wrapped up a successful season with their banquet and are now moving ahead with plans to build this Varsity Team.
Jordan says the timing is perfect with Sarnia out, they could pick up several of their players and coaches that would help right away. The Cougars are looking at building a coaching staff, and recruiting Varsity age players for this Spring/Summer season.
