Chatham Cougars 45 Mississauga Rattlers 0
The young Cougars are off to a great start for the season with their second straight win and shutout. A 45-0 win over the Mississauga Rattlers improved the team's record to 2-0.
The Cougars defence once again started the scoring with the first touchdown of the game when Jake Anderson intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown early in the first quarter. The Cougars offence scored on it's second play from scrimmage when Kelton Evans completed a touchdown pass to Ross Krieger. Evans threw another touchdown to Clayton Shreve and ended up 3 for 3 for 122 yards in the first half.
Nolan Ball scored on a 16 yard run and Jake Anderson returned a punt for his second touchdown of the game as the Cougars led at half time 33-0.
The Cougars defence allowed only one first down the entire game, dominating the young Mississauga squad. The offence went to a pounding ground attack in the second half and Ross Krieger scored on a reverse from 67 yards away. Tanner Shuin capped the scoring with an interception for a touchdown. Owen Dorssers made 3 of 7 converts.
The Cougars will be tested next week when they again travel, this time to Oakville. Defensively, the Cougars haven't allowed a point against them in 2 games and the offence is averaging over 300 yards total offence a game, totalling 92 points in just 2 games.
