Game Summary for Chatham-Kent Peewee Cougars for June 27, 2010
The young Peewee Cougars played like men on Sunday when they faced an equal record 3-0 Forest City Thunderbirds squad. The final score did not reflect the equal records as the Cougars won 35-0. Through 4 weeks of football, the Cougars are 4-0, with 169 points scored and 0 allowed.
Early in the game, it appeared that the defence would finally give up some points on a long reverse run by the Thunderbirds.
If not for the “never give up” attitude displayed by both Jake Anderson and Sean Harris, who chased down the speedy runner and tackled him at the Cougars 15 yard line, a touchdown was inevitable. The next play, the Cougars defence forced a fumble and the Thunderbirds never recovered. Defensive standouts on the day were Alex Formosa and Owen Dorssers, whose disciplined play on the edge was outstanding. Other notables were Quentin Forgie and Austin Miller, who ate up the off tackle run and caused havoc in the backfield. Jake Anderson, Philip Clarke, and Kenny Levesque also played outstanding for the defence.
Offensively, the Cougars put up 272 yards total rushing. Ross Krieger had 147 yards, Brady Pataki 33 yards, Liberty Rountree 32 yards, and Clayton Shreve 28 yards, with the total of 7 different ball carriers having a turn. Kelton Evans had another good game at Quarterback, going 6 for 9 for the total of 78 yards. Nolan Ball led receivers with 3 catches and Trent Scaman caught a touchdown on a pitch pass. Other touchdowns were 2 by Ross Krieger, one for 103 yards another for 36 yards. Kenny Levesque caught a pass for a 6 yard touchdown, and Brady Pataki for a 2 yard. Owen Dorssers's was 5 of 5 on converts Philip Clarke, Drake St Pierre and Mathew Lee had strong games on the offensive line, which led to the great offensive output. .
