Chatham-Kent Peewee Cougars 37, Toronto Jr Argos, 0
The Peewee Cougars extended their perfect record to 5-0 with a 37-0 win over the Toronto Jr Argos on the road sunday.
Brady Pataki lead a balanced Cougar attack with 10 carries for 84 yards rushing, including a 47 yard touchdown run. Pataki also scored on a 29 yard touchdown reception from quarterback Kelton Evans. Evans also connected on a 41 yard touchdown pass to Ross Krieger. Evans completed 2 other passes to go 4 for 7 on the day for 83 yards Krieger and Evans also hooked up for a 2 point conversion. Chris Vercauteren opened the scoring with his first touchdown of the season on a 41 yard reverse. Clayton Shreve scored a 6 yard touchdown to help the Cougars build a 29-0 half time lead.
Defensively, the Cougars did not allow the Jr Argos to gain a first down all game. On the Jr Argos only play that crossed over mid field, Jake Anderson chased down the Jr Argo receiver and stripped the ball while making a picture perfect tackle. Nolan Hakr recovered the fumble, and also had an interception later in the game. Tanner Shuian led the Cougars defence with many tackles in the Jr Argos backfield. Strong games defensively were also put in by Austin Miller, Quentin Forgie and Jordan Church.
Owen Dorssers converted 3 of 4 of the touchdowns and Krieger kicked a single on a punt.
Special Note: Mathew Lee capped a great week having scored a hole in one on the golf course earlier in the week. The Cougars center was named the offensive line player of the game on sunday.
